The Cova da Beira region is located in the interior central region of Portugal, close to the border with Spain. There are fourteen municipalities in the area of Cova da Beira.

AMCB is based in Covilha and its main statutory objective is the promotion of economic development in the region through integrated planning of local action strategies, namely, the management of endogenous resources, the promotion of employment, the improvement of the competitiveness of local firms, the development of rural areas and the environmental protection and enhancement.
